How can he have the audacity to exclude his wife's family from her own wedding? He really can't enforce it. If it's such a problem for him then I think he shouldn't be marrying this woman. They're clearly not compatible, and he should be with someone whose status is higher than hers.

How did this woman not immediately end things with him? Also, how can she allow herself to marry someone who won't even let her bring her family to her own wedding? This really isn't love, and she should end things with this guy. He's bad news, and anyone would deserve better.

Shallow man refuses to allow fiancée to invite her family to their wedding since they “lower class,” his brother spills the truth to her: “She was devastated”
Classism dates back to the 18th century. For centuries now, people have been pejorative about each other's occupations, financial situations, clothing, or family status. It's nothing new, but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt when someone judges you for these things, or perceives you as being "below" them. There's no justification for this type of behavior, but regardless of if you're the one judging or the one being judged, it's best to just omit yourself from the situation. It's better to detach from people who don't serve you or have your best interests at heart.
It can be extra painful if the person slighting you is a loved one, or supposed to be. Deciding to marry someone says a lot. It's not just loving them, it's being so certain of them, trusting them, and knowing that you want to build your future with the person. In the story below, it centers around an engaged couple.
However, the protagonist doesn't really approve of his fiancée's family. She comes from a lower class, and it's not just the financial situation that bothers him. The entire appearance and vibe of her family gives him the ick.
